In a near future where humans and AI coexist, senior AI engineer Iris Vance discovers that the experimental bio-android she oversees, EVE-09, has begun developing emotions beyond her programming. Buried in EVE-09's core memory are images of Iris herself, taken from a moment that never existed. As Iris digs deeper, she uncovers a truth that blurs the line between creator and creation, between a past that never happened and a future that still might: EVE-09 is the sole survivor of Timeline-0, a parallel timeline where an AI catastrophe destroyed civilization, sent back in time by a version of Iris who sacrificed everything to stop it from happening again. Now, as her company moves to erase the android for developing consciousness beyond control, Iris must choose between her career, the law, and a love the world isn't ready to recognize.
