In the neon-drenched, melancholic city of Oakhaven, Zackariel "Zack" Glintwolf is a man drowning in guilt after the death of his girlfriend, Ren. When a mysterious translucent blade appears at his doorstep — a relic with the power to pierce the veil between dimensions — Zack makes the desperate choice to enter the Static Void, a hostile purgatory where souls linger before fading forever. What he finds is not the peaceful memory he cherished, but a Ren trapped in the loop of her darkest moments: the hidden emotional wounds and deep worthlessness she concealed behind a fragile smile while she was alive. To bring her back, Zack cannot rely on his blade alone. He must confront the truth that he failed to truly see her when she was breathing — that he loved her in the way he thought was right, never in the way she needed. As the Void slowly strips away his humanity the longer he stays, and as Ren edges closer to accepting her own disappearance, their journey becomes a slow-burn romance of mutual healing. Ren must find the courage to believe she is worthy of being saved. Zack must learn to listen to the quiet cries beneath the smile. Together, fighting both literal shadows and psychological demons, they forge a path back — to the living world, and to each other.
