What Koharu doesn't tell him is that his voice was the only thing that kept her from disappearing in the months after her best friend Mio died — and that Itsuki once read Mio's last letter on air without knowing she was already gone. Through four seasons of small, ordinary moments — snow and spring chores, fireflies by the river, autumn arguments, and a lantern festival in the snow — they don't save each other. They simply stay, until staying becomes something worth choosing.
